PUTAKI.
Own Correspondent. It is with the deepest regret that I have to chronicle the death of Mrs Vicary, wife of Mr Lionel Vicary, of Putaki, who passed away very suddenly at their residence on Thursday, July 12th. Quite a gloom was cast over the whole district wh*n the sad fact became known, Mrs Vicary having during her three years' residence in the district won the hearts of the settlers by her ever pleasant smile, and her intense desire to alleviate the sufferings of others. Having passed through the hospital as a nurse, her knowledge, and services in sickness were invaluable. Not a settler in the district who cannot testify to her ever ready and cheerful response to their call for assistance and advice no matter how inclement the weather or what hour of the night the call has been made. In the death of Mrs Vicary Putaki suffers an irreparable loss. That the bereaved husband may be sustained in this hiß greatest hour of trial is the prayer of the unite district.
