COMMERCIAL.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., report: We held our usual monthly sale in the above yards on 12th inst., when we had a good yarding. We quote: —• Mixed sheep 9s 9d, empty ewe 5s 6d, good calves 34s Gd to 443, fat cows £5 lis to £6 ss. store cows £3 to £3 6s, empty heifers £2 14s to £3 7s 6d, 2 to 2k year steers £4 to £4 15s, springers £5 to £6 7s Gd, heifers in calf £3 15s to £4 4s. A quantity of farm implements sold at satisfactory prices. On the same day we held a clearing sale on account of Mrs Shaw at Hairini. There was a large attendance and bidding was brisk throughout. We quote: Dairy cows £5 to £B, dairy heifers 2 years £4 15s to £7 ss, Hoistein bull £5, good calves 1 345, draught geldings £25 10s to £33, light horses £2 10s to £S 10s, disc harrows £5, harness, furniture, etc., sold at satisfactory prices. We held our usual tri-weekly sale in the Hamilton yards on the loth inst. Owing to the very wet day the advertised number of entries did not come forward. Prices for beef and mutton were firmer. We quote:— Heavy fat wethers 19s Gd, medium fat wethers 14s to 16s 6d, fat heifers £5 10s, fat cows £6 9s, 2 year heifers in calf £5, heifers calves 455, mixed calves 38s, springing cows £5 to £8 15s, a herd of aged dairy cows from Wanganui realised £4 17s 6d to £7 2s 6d, sucker pigs 4s to Ss, porkers 30s to 335. Newton King reports:—
For my fortnightly sa;e in my Stratford yards on 11th inst., I had a fair entry and a good attendacne of buyers. The demand throughout was very even for all lines and absolute clearance being made during the day. Quotations: —Good store cows and yearlings met with keen competition, best yearling steers from 33s 6d to 37s 6d, small 21s, bad coloured lis, good mixed 445, best yearling heifers £2 2s Gd to £-3 3s, good 31s to 395, small 36s Gd, empty 20 months heifers £3 to £3 9a 6d," bulls £2 5s to £3 10s, in calf heifers £4 16s, cows iri calf £3 17s Gd, aged cows in calf, guaranteed £3 2s 6d to £3 12s 6d, empty cows, stores £2 9s to £3 ss, fresh conditioned £3 lis to £3 19s, boners 20s to 355, fat cow £ss 17s Gd, hoggets 8s 4d, fat bullocks £7 13s.
In my Stratford dairy yards on 11th inst I had a clearing sale on account of Mr John Fabish, Ratapiko. Bidding was very good. Quotations: Best quailty cows £8 to £ll ss, second grade £5 10s to £7, others poor or aged £3 23 Gd to £4 10s, on account of other vendors £5 to £7 10s, in calf heifers £6 2s 6d.
On 12th inst. T had a good attendancp at Mr Miller's clearing sale on the York road. Prices realised throughout were very satisfactory, averaging £9. Good dairy cows realised from £8 10s to £l2 10s, second grade £5 to £7 10s, empty cows £3 15s to £4 17s Gd, in calf heifers £6 17s Gd to £9, mare £l6 15s. My Stony River sale on 12th inst. was very well attended, but only a fair yarding of stock which met with good competition, realising as follows: —Yearling heifers 24s 6d to 38s 96dd, steers 28s to 37s 6i, empty 2,0 months heifer £3 5s to £3 15s 6d, 20 months heifers in calf £ 15s to £4 7s store cows £2 10s to £3 2s 6d, forward cows £4 2? 6d to £4 4s, fat cows £5 7s Gd.
