WAIKATO WINTER SHOW.
Winter shows to the farmer are essential but one show in a central position in each province is actually what should be aimed at and the. wh«le of the energy of the province be concentrated in making one huge exhibition. It is gratifying to know that the Waikato Winter Show Association have recognised the necessity of concentration their show is now recognised as the provincial winter show of the Auckland province. There is no end to its scope of usefulness and the growth of the show during its short existence has been phenomenal. The association in many of its sections have but experienced what is so universally felt in similar undertakings. There is first the period of criticism, next of some appreciation, and finally that of both appreciation and confidence. These shows, in addition to their great value to the dairy farmer and agricultural community provide enlightment to that portion of the general public, who are at other times unable to gain a practical insight to the resources of the district in which they reside. We ate pleased indeed that the association's entries for the forthcoming show exceeds that of any previous year by cluse on one thousand entries, and that the Waikato Winter Show this year will have twice the number of exhibits of any winter show that has been held in the Dominion. The Waikato ba3 proved itself the right position lor the holding of a winter show, and we cannot refrain from expressing the hope that the whole of the A. and P. Associations in the Auckland province will forego any idea of establishing smaller district shows, but combine to make the Waikato Winter Show greater han ever and thus obtain the true ideal. The committee are endeavouring in every way to meet the requirements of exhibitors and visitor so that there is no question of the sixth annual show of this as3ociatiun being an unbounded success. The secretary will answer enquiries cheerfully and the dates of the show are June 4th, sth, 6th, 7th and Bth.
