A well attended meeting of settlers was held in the hall uri May ISth, for the purpose of making arrangements for the holding of a social on the 30th. There is prospect of it being a successful and well attended gathering.
Matters with regard to school affairs and dairying were also discussed at some length. A conservative estimate of the number of cows likely to be milked on the Pungarehu and at Waitunguru amounted to 400. Another meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on June Ist in the hall for the purpose of dealing with dairying in particular and other matters of local interest. It is hoped this meeting will be a representative one and that sorn headway will be made in the matter. If all put their shoulder to the wheel and fully recognise that their interests lie in the direction of forming a co-operative factory in the township, they will, in a few years' time, wonder at the way their, at present, obscure, district has pro-iireiiS-filL
