PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT.

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

A special meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was held on Monday evening to make arrangements in connection with the opening of the Coronation Library and new municipal building by the Prime Minister (Hon. T. Mackenzie) on Friday afternoon. There were present his Worship the Mayor (Mr James Boddis), and Cr:Lusk, Tammudge, Finlay and Young.

It was decided on the motion of Crs Lusk and Young that the official ceremony take place at 4.30 p.m. It was resolved to entertain the Ministerial party, heads of local bodies, executive of the Chamber of Commerce, and others to ? dinner at 6 p.m. In the time between the ceremony and dinner deputations will be received in the Council room. The Borough Council will bring forward he question of obtaining borough reserves for the reason that up to the present the ratepayers of Te Kuiti have been at the expense of all works in the town. Councillors considered that such were most urgently needed, and the Mayor and Cr Finlay were authorised to go into the matter. It was resolved to procure a silver key suitably inscribed for presenttion to tha Prime Minister. Crs Youne and Tammadge were appointed a committee to deal with matters in connection with the dinner.

CHAMBER OF COMEMRCE DEPUTATION.

At a meeting nf the executive ol the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce, held yesterday afternoon, it was decided that the following matters be brought before the notice of the Prime Minister and the Minister for Native Affairs by way of deputation—1. The tenure of native townsips. 2. The Oparure-Waitomo road. 3. The appointment of a Coroner for Te Kuiti and theneces?ity for altering the boundaries of the district for the registration of births, marriages and deaths.

4. The necessity for the appointment of a Clerk of the Court at Te Kuiti.
