TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday evening. There were present Cra Young, Hardy, Tam madge, Julian. Surnerville, Forsyth and the Mayor (Mr Jas. Boddie). Hall Bookings. —It was resolved that the letter from Miss L. Smith, re hire erf hall, be received, and the hall be booked for the second Thursday in every month until September 12th, 1912. and that the letter from the Rev. R. B. Gusnell on behalf of the Methodist Church be received and the hall reserved for Wednesday evenings and all day Sunday in each week until October Ist, 1912, and permission be granted to erect a small cupboard and a couple of brackets in the hall. Permission was granted to Mr Geo. Hitchcock to erect a scaffold in front ofG reen and Cole brook s store as requested. Drainage.—The letter from Inspector Bennett re drainage was received and referred to the Works, Water and Drainage Committee to report on. Dog Nuisance.—The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Morgan, boardinghousa proprietor informiuc him that the nuisance caused by dogs being tied up on his property must be abated.

Caretaker and Librarian.—The letter from Mrs Keogh re position caretaker for buildings and post of librarian was received.

Permission was granted to Mr Thos. Porter to grade a better entrance to his section.

The report of the Fire Prevention and Sanitation Committee was adopted, also the report of the Works, Water and Drainage Committee. Tender.—The offer of Henry Rothery to lay reticulation mains at £1 per chain was accepted. Purchase of Timber.—Cr Forsyth was authorised to secure a quantity of timber for the council, all his expenses while so doing to be defrayed by the council. Roll. —The supplementary roll prepared by the clerk was approved and ordered to be printed. Waiteti Road. —Robert Cowan's tender of £l6O for the formation of the Waiteti road was accepted. Te Kumi Ruad.—The tender of Wells and Nicol, £69 17s 6d, for the formation of the Te Kumi road, being the lowest, was accepted. School Entrance.—The tender for the entrance to the infant school contract was not accepted and the work is to be done by the borough foreman. Dam Site.—The matter of fencing in the intake on t&e dam site was left in the hands of his Worship the Mayor with power to act. Ahuroa Koad.—A report is to be got from the borough foreman aa to the cost of connecting the Te Ahuroa road and Lawrence street to give access to the Esplanade. Library Committee. Crs Tammadge, Young and Lusk were appointed to represent the Borough Council on the Library Committee. Proposed Morgue.—lt was resolved that the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board be asked to erect a morgue at Te Kuiti, the council to provide the site for same.
