AN URGENT NECESSITY.

IUOKiUIE FOR OTOUOHANGA,

j Own Correspondent. ! A special building in which to . place bodies awaiting coroner'B inquest in an urgent necessity to Otorohnn;:a. Within the last ten months there have Sini quite a number of occasions upon which a morgue has been ' reiji]ire::. (hi one occasion a man dropped cleaw at the railway station, another man was killed in the bush, a ! man committed suicide, and now an- | other man has beer, found dead in a .yard. 1:. has happened that none of i these nmn had relations living at ! O(on>ham;a, and the police have had to take charge, and the only official buildup: in which to place the bodies is the lock-up. .Fortunately, our local constable is a humane man, and has managed to get the use of various private huidings for ithe occasions; but people do not care to have their private buildings used continually, and it does not seem right that a person whu probably never has been inside a lock-up during his lifetime, should be placed in a criminal's accommodation house if he meets with a fatal accident when away from his home and relations.

The Public Works Department is supposed to be now preparing plana for a new police station, and a building to meet the cases at Otorohanga would only cost about £2O to £25. Efforts are to be made to have a small room included in the police station buildings.
