ASSISTED IMMIGRANTS.

The Government has decided upon a new immigration policy. It will instruct its officials in England to carefully examine those offering before they are granted assisted passages, and to give preference to those for whom definite occupations can be found. Arrangements will be made for mistresses to pay the passages of the domestic servants. Brisbane, Wednesday. The Government has stopped the system of assisted immigrants, owing to the exhaustion, of the vote for the purpose. It has also considerably restricted the nominated system, and 1000 passengers have been refused.
