BOWLS.

On Saturday last two rinks from Te Kuiti Bowling Club journeyed to Auckland to try conclusions with the West End Bowling Club. Though several of the representative Te Kuiti players were unable to make the trip, those who did participate in the games gave a very fair account of themselves. On Saturday afternoon the following games were played:—Te Kuiti being named first in each case: Julian, Erickssen, Stevens, Matthew 35 v. Tomkins, Reid, Webbe, Langsford 39; Porter, Albrechtsen, Verrall, Spencer 29 v. Bell, Coutts, Swales, Court 33; total, West End 72, Te Kuiti 64. Thirty-one head were played in each case. Though the weather was stormy a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. In the" evening Te Kuiti teams attended the theatre as the guests of the West End Club. On Sunday launches were placed at the dispusal of the visiting team, and they, together with a number of the West End Club enjoyed a delightful trip to Riverhead. The local men speak in the highest terms of praise of the manner in which they were entertained throughout their visit, and one and all state that the trip was one of the most enjoyable they had experienced for many a long day. It is hoped that the West End Club will return the visit before the season closes, and it is likely that a number of ladies will accompany the bowlers, and play a series of games wi th the local Croquet Club.
