REFORM PARTY RALLY.
BIG GATHERING ANTICIPATED
GARDEN PARTY AND BANQUET
The Reform Party rally, which is to take place at Te Kuiti on Wednesday next, promises to be the most important political gathering which has been held in the King County. Mr W. F. Massey, leader of the party, will attend, and the majortiy of the North Island members of ihe party will also be present.
Arrangements have been made for a garden party, to be held on Wednesday afternoon, to which the public are cordially invited. In the evening a complimentary banquet is to be tendered to Messrs W. F. Massey (leader and C. K. Wilson, member for and other members of the party. The Alexandria Rink has been engaged for the occasion, and it is anticipated the gathering will assume large dimensions.
A meeting of the local executive was held on Thursday evening when it was reported that everything was well in hand for the success of the event.
It was decided that the garden party would commence at 4.15 p.m. A marquee will be erected in the school grounds where all present will be entertained to refreshments.
Mr Massey will arrive by the 4 p.m. train, and a procession from the railway station to the school grounds will take place, headed by the Oparure Brass Band. On arrival at the grounds his Worship the Mayor (MrJaa. Boddie, will tender a civic welcome to Mr Massey and the members nf his party. At the conclusion of thi3 ceremony refreshments will be partaken of, after which short speeches will be delivered by Messrs Massey, F. M. B. Fisher, E. Newman and D. Buick.
A strong ladies committee is vigor ously working on behalf of this functioned at a meeting on Thursday afternoon, at which some twenty ladies wpre present, final arrangements were made. The committee requesfs that all contributions of cakes, etc., be left at Messrs Green and Colebrook's on Wednesday ingMiss Nellie Graham was appointed secretary of the ladies' executive committee.
At the banquet to be held in the evening it is expected there will be over 300 people in attendance, which will unquestionably be the largest function of the even held in the King Country. His Worship the Mayor will also preside at the banquet, and on his right will be Mr Massey, and on his left Mr C. K. Wilson, the newly elect of Taumarunui. A well assorted number of toasts will be honoured, which should from several standpoints achieve the object of having the King Country well advertised, as well as having its many and various wants made known.
The following members, amongst other, have notified that they will be present:—Messrs W. F. Massey (leader), C. K. Wilson, R. Bollard, J. A. Young, J. S Dickson, J. H. Bradney, A. Harris, H. J. Okey, D. Buick, E. Newman, F. M. B. Fisher, F. W. Lang.
