A short time ago the representatives of the Waitomo, Ohura and Kawhia Counties met at Auckland, and decided upon certain recommendations. In furtherance of the project the other counties interested—Whanagmomona, Kaitieke and Wa ; mairno—were communicated with by the chairman of the Waitomo County Council (Mr A. Scholes), and it was arranged to meet at Taumarunui. There were present —Messrs A. Scholes, Waitomo County Council: Brass, Waimarino; and McLeod, Kaitieke. A telegram was received from Mr Meredith, chairman of the Whangamomona County Council, signifying his agreement with the proposals outlined.

The recommendations drawn up by the Waitomo Council were discussed and agreed to, and it was resolved that representatives of the counties interested should wait upon the Minister after Parliament opened, the county representatives to meet at Wellington and finally agree with respect to the details of the proposals before submitting them to the Minister.
