At Matarnata yards on January 17th, we had an entry of 1552 sheep, 42 pigs, and 1004 head of cattle, the, latter including 430 weaner calves. There was good competition for all classes of stock, and nearly evrything wan disposed of. Weaner pigs from 9s fid to 20s, fat ewes lis fid to Ma, prime fat. wethers 17s fid, forward lambs 8s Id to 9s 7d, small lambs Ha to f)8 fid, store ewes 10s to lis, cull ewes ss, fat cow s£s to A'ti, small fat steers £7 2s fid to Ha, meaty hulls £4 10s to £6, cows with calves £4 llr, fresh conditioned cows £.'! Ifis to £1 10s. choice 18 months heifers, been with bull £1 to £4 10s, others riot ro choice £3 to £3 7s fid, 2 year steerß 455. 18 months steers 35:1 to £3 10s, best weaner calves 37s to 435, medium sorts 30s to 355, small and young sorts 355. At Morrinsville on January 19lh. we had an entry of 1138 sheep, 30 pigs 4, 74 head of cattle and a few horses. Fat sheep were easier in price, but cattle of all classes sold at. lato rates.
