THE LAND FOR THE FARMER.
♦ SrECULATTION CONDEMNED.
In speaking at the opening of the dairy factory on Monday evening, Mr J. Boddie emphasised tln> fart that real farming had only commenced in the district. Hitherto they had only been scratching. As a matter of fact land speculation had hern found to ho morn profitable than farming, but when they pot flown to real homo life on the land they would find the benefits of real farming and with permanency of tenure the ay atom of working the land would bo improved out of knowledge. Dairying wan a meaiiH to that end and .should be welcomed as the harbinger of good for the district. If the speculation in land could by any means be stopped Ihere would bo little difficulty with respect to tenure and consequently a much more nettled feeling with regard to landowncrship in general.
