TANGITU.

Own Correspondent. During the Christmas holidays two very nice dances were held, the last being on New Year's night, and being promoted as a Leap Year ball. A very enjoyable time was spent and the thanks of those who attended are due to Mr Raymond Kenny for his efforts in promoting the fixture. Following are some of the dresses worn by the ladies: —Mrs Bowring, white; Mrs Brake, white; Mr* Cooper, white; Mrs J. Hose, blue; Miss L. Hose, cream silk; Mrs A. J. Hose, red blouse with coat and skirt; Miss Maud Whiley, cream; Miss May Whiley, pale blue; Miss Grace Whiley, pink stripe; Mrs Dixon, cream silk; Miss L. Irau, white; Mrs Clark, white. Many other visitors were present and dancing was kept up till a late hour. Surprise parties also descended upon Mr Messenger and Mr Dixon during the holidays and notwithstanding the drawbacks of bad weather the holidays were most enjoyable.

The Mokauiti Valley settlers are going ahead with the dairy factory scheme, and a guarantee of over 600 cowb is already in sight. Altogether this must be taken as being very satisfactory. In consequence of the wet weather the roads are in a terrible state, but with the last few days a change has set in, and we are hoping for better things.
