The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: At Ohaupo on Tuesday we had a good yarding of store cattle and dairy cows and heifers. There was a good demand for all classes at the following rates -Grown steers in fresh condition £7 2s 6d, 2A to 3 year steers £5 9s to £5 15s 2, year steers £3 19s to
£4 lis, yearling steers £2 10s to £2 19s, empty cows £3 17s fid to £B, snirnging heifers £6 17s Gd to £8 10s, more backward heifers £5 'to £5 15s, woolly hoggets 10s to 12s 9d.
At Otorohanga on 27th September 3 year steers in forward condition made £6 15s to £7 15s, 2 year steers £3 18s to £4 7s, empty cows £3 10s to £4 4s, fat cows £7 Is, IS month to 2 year heifer £3 12s to £3 13s, yearling heifers £2 14s to £2 17s, yearling bulls 3} to U guineas, springing heifers £6 12s Gd to £8 ss, ponies 30s to £4, trap mare £l6 10s. weauer pigs 10s. At Matamata on same day we yarded 834 head of cattie, also sheep and pigs. There was a large attendance of buyers present and keen competition ruled throughout and all sold at the hammer, except, one pen of steers, at most satisfactory prices. Small fat steers made £9 12s to £9 12s Gd. fat cows £G 9s to £7 Lis, 3A year steers £6 13s to £7 3s, 3 year steers £5 lis to £0 Os, empty cows in fresh condition £4 Is to £4 12s, 21 year steers £4 15s to £5 4s, 2 year steers £4 5s to £4 10s, yearling steers £2 ISs to £3 ss, mixed yearlings £2l 2s to £3 3s, 2 year empty heifers £4 to £4 10s, IS month empty heifers £3 9s to £3 1 <s. best springing heifers £7 Ins to £9 10s, more, backward heifers £4 7s Gd to £5 ss, others £G 7s Gd to £7 ss, dairy cows close to profit £< Itis to £9, others £5 10s to £7, aged cows £4 to £5 ss, woolly hoggets 12s Id to 15s 9d, ewes and lambs 15s 9d. store pigs 24s to 295, slips ISs Gd, weaneis l'ls to 13s.
There was brisk bidding for all live and dead stock at Messrs Bartlett Bros.' clearing sale afc Hautapu on September 28th. The 30 dairy in milk advertised averaged £1 17s (id, the best making from £l4 to £lB ss, heifers up to £ll 10s, yearling Shorthorn heifers £5 2s, cows close to profit £9 to £l3 ss, 2 year bulls £7 5a to £ll sss, medium draught geldings £33 10s to £4. aged mare £lO, store pigs 20s, bacon pigs f>g, implements and sundries at usual rates.
