SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The regular monthly meeting of the School Committer was held on Thursday evening last. 'The Rev. Mr Wayne presided, in Ihe absence of the chairman (Rev. Mr Mitchell, n<e,v convalescent). Tne usual business being g-m- eve", a renort was submitted irorn the heed teacher re the at I en.lane.' at the
school, winch is now over oil on li;e roll with an average attendance oi 279. It is gratifying to know that il 280 can be reached and maintained fur this quarter this wjll entitle the schojl to another teacher, which wii! no doubt greatly help the tuition of scholars.
Tne question regarding the altering of school hours during the inn summer
months was brought helore the meeting and after a lengthy discussion on the matter it was agreed that a crcular be issued to the parents asking them to express their views. '1 lie suggested hours are Morning to 11.30, 45 minutes for lunch; dismiss at 2.15. The visiting commmitlee reported that, the children! are unanimous for this alteration, and the committee are very anxious that each and all of the parents should express their views. Circulars are to be returned, addressed to the secretary, School Committee, Te Kuiti.
