KAWHIA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meetingof the Kawhia County Council was held on Saturday, 12th inst. Present: Crs W. J. Shaw, Chairman; A. W. Elliott, R. T. Davies, Jas. Kearns and A. W. Babbage. The Under-secretary, Public Works Department, wrote concerning the sum of £IOO appearing on last year's estimates for roading the Pirorua Block, stating that no loan had yet been raised on the security of this block and therefore no funds were yet availablefor expenditure. The Under-secretary 3lso wrote re the Kavvhia-Marokopa river road, requesting the Council to submit proposals for the expenditure of the balance of the vote on work in the Mangaohinga gorge.

The Hon. Minister of Lands notified the Council that the landing reserves at Oparau had now been vested in the Council.

Mr M. W. Forsyth forwarded plans and specifications for the wharf at Lemon Point and launch landings at Ooarau and Te Maika ■ —lt was decided to hold over consideration of these plans until the plans for the other proposed worns to hand. The Hon. Secretary of the Taylor Memorial Fund, wrote requesting the co-operation of the Council [in raisingsubscriptions for a memorial to the late Mr T. E, Taylor.—lt was resolved to take no action in this matter, as it was considered outside the province of the Council.

The Engineer was instructed to construct an anproach to the Sanding at Oparau. It was resolved to again approach the Public Works Department with a request to erect a bridge over the Mangati stream on the KawhiaPirongia road and to ask the Waitomo County Council to support the application.
