SETTLERS AND ROADS.

To lhe Editor,

Sir, Noticing in one of your latest pacers that Mr C. J. Riddle has been apply to the Wsitomo County Council for a special rating area, I should li lie to suggest through your valuable paper that settlers nn this si !e of Pio Pio, who use the Wa r?ra road for outlet should combine and nntal the rosd from Pio Pi:) to Wairer?. Metal is very plentiful, and we should be able to go out without fear of getting lost in the slush.. Secondly, all settlers in Rangikahua, Mokauiti and Kaeaea to meta 1 the Waitabi road, and from Ratimas junction to Aria. Thirdly, settlers at I\aesea to mstal from Ratimas junction to junction of Paro road. It would be p. big scheme, but with £1 for £1 subsidy from th a Government, ■which wa are sure to get if we are not too slow to ask for if, it wou-d cost us very little more than our "thirds." Hoping to see some settler interested for or against state h;s views through the medium of your paper. —I am, etc., IGNORAMUS.
