HORRIBLE CRUELTY.
SALUTARY SENTENCE. [MV TKLKUIIAPII. —I'BKSS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, This Day. Harry Compton, a hawker, was sentenced to seven days imprisonment for having worked a horse suffering from a sore back. The Inspector of the S.P.C.A. noticed blood oozing from under the saddle on the horse, and inspected it. Just under the saddle was a hole in the flesh, festering, and large enough for a man's closed hand to lie in.
