The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., report:— At Te Awamutu on Saturday laßt we submitted a good yarding of cattle, which were wanted by buyers present and realised most satisfactory prices. Fat and forward cows £4 17s to £5 10s, small fat steers £6 15s to £1 12s 6d, 2b year Bteers in forward condition £5, 2 year Bteera £4 5a to £4 10a. calves £1 8s to £2 ss, empty cjws£2 15s to £4, according to condition, 20 months empty heifers £2 12s to £3, dairy cows to calve in spring £6 to £8 2s 6d, Jersey heifers £Bl 2s 6d.
Messrs Dalgety and Co, Ltd', are in receipt of the following cable from their >Loudon office under date June 20th:—Butter: Total imports into United Kingdom for week ending Saturday last 76,000 cwts, as compared with 95,000 for correspohding period of last year; Danish, 117s, finest„ Australian salted 104s, finest Australian unsalted IOQs, other descriptions 90s to 100s. Cheese: Steady from 59s to 60s; market trade rather quieter at the advance. Good rains have fallen in Denmark. The weather is very dry in Siberia. Australian market has advanced owing to cold weather.
Newton King reports:— % On Friday 23rd ult., in conjunction with Messrs Gillies and Nalder, I held a clearing sale at Inaha. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the large herd submitted met with keen competition. The top price was given for a purebred Jersey cow which realised £2O, grade Jerseys close up brought to £l3, grade Holstein to£ 16 455, orJinary early calvers £7 to £l2 5s later £5 to £6 15s, very late and empty £3 15s to £4 15s, store cows £2 12s 6d to £3l os, bulls £2l 0s to £ll, mixed yearlings 355, yearling heifers 395, draught horses £34 to £35 10s, trap horses £lO to £l6 10s, hacks £4 to £6 15s.
At Waiwakaiho on the same day there was the usual yarding, with good attendance of buyers. Young stock were hot so well competed for as of late, but nearly ali were quitted at the hammer or privately. Dairy cows were in good demand, and met with ready sale. Mixel weaners made 295. to 36s 6d, yearling steers 36s 6d, 15 to 18 month steers £3, 2 to 2J year steers £3 12s, 2 to 2i year empty heifers £3 5s to £3 12s, 9 month heifers 375, springing heifers 5 to £6l os, springing cows £5 to £6 15s, cows in milk £4 10s, store cows 30s to £ls, 3 forward cows £3 7s to £4 ss, bulls £2 4s 6d to £l7s 6d, 2 tooth to f.m. ewes £7 6s.
At Urenui on Monday, 26th, there as a large yarding with good attendance of buyers. Bidding was brisk throughout, especially for 2i to 3 year springing heifers, of which a good number came forward. Mixed weanerß brought 27s 6d to 355, 2 year steers £3os 6d, 2\ to 3 year Bteers £4 Bs, 2 year empty heifers £2 15s, 2$ year heiferc r.w.b. £4 5s to £5, 2$ year springing heifers £5 to £ 10s, 3 year springing heifers £6 2a to £7, 2J to 3 year Holstein heifers £6 15s 2} year Jersey heifers r.w.b. £52 s 6d, store cows £2 14s to £3 ss, fat cows £5 to £5 2s 6d, sprining cows £5 10s to £6 7s 6d, heifers calved £5 ss, cow calved £6 2s 6d, fat wethers 17s. At Stony River on Wednesday, 28th, there was a large yarding, especially of young cattle. Mixed weanera made 28s to 36s 6d, yearling steers 28s to 33b, same good quality £2 3s to £2 Bs. yearling heifers 525, better quality £2 lis 6d to £2 16s, 2 year steers £3 6s 2 to 3 year heifers £3 5s to £3 15s, in calf heifers £3lss to £5 3s, springing heifers £4 17s 6d to £6, fat heifers £4 15s, store cows 35s to £3 4s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 7s Gd,
