AMUSEMENTS.

ALEXANDRA RINK

! On Thursday evening last, a local mile race was run at the rink, and after an exciting event 1 was won' by / A. Longhurst. As announced in their advertisement, the proprietors have decided to postpone the second night of their grand carnival, on account pf the A. and P. Association'a ball falling on the sa.ne evening, and have arranged to hold the second evening's carnival on the Thursday following, July 6th, intead of Tuesday, as previously announced. Great intetest is being displayed in the coming event, and there wil undoubtedly be keen competition for the various costume prizes. This will be the event of the season in skating circles, and as no skaters are to be allowed on the floor in plain clothes, the spectacle, from the public's point of view, should be an exceedingly interesting one. The floor has now been done up, and is j in perfect condition for skating.

WAIKATO AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The final arrangements in connection with the forthcoming Waikato championships tournament ara now almost complete, and a highly successful carnival seems assured. An energetic committee has been busily engaged in arranging all details that will assist in making the meeting a memorable one in the Waikato. The entries received constitute a record, and some good material wiil be forthcoming in the various classes. Auckland, Waikato, Goldflelds and the King Country have all contributed in the way of entries, and much speculation is rife as to the abilities uf the representatives of the various districts to secure championship honours. A large number of enquiries for seating accommodation have already-been received from outside districts, and a packed house should greet the contestants on the night of the "Glorious Fourth." A large number uf Auckland enthusiasts and several of the Northero Boxing Association are expected, and it seems certain from present appearances that this carnival will-eclipse all the Association's previous meetings. The box plan is open at Paul's Book Arcade, Hamilton, and prices, etc., may be seen on reference to our advertising columns to day.
