Following upon the decision of the Argicultural Department to remove the purebred Jersey cattle from Weraroa to the Ruakura State Farm, settlers in the Levin district are signing a petition asking that they be retained, together with the present Holsteins, at Weraroa. "I don't think our farmers are likely to have as bad a winter as they expected some months ago," said a prominent stock breeder to a "Manawatu Standard" reporter. "These mild rains should bring on the feed, and the frosts so far have not been seiours. On the whole the country districts are looking very well, and stock are keeping up condition. Of course, there is not much in the grass, and some sheep are not thriving as well as might be wished."
