I SETTLERS' LOSSES. Mr V. Jackson, of Ratanui, had the j misfortune to have his house burned '■■ to the ground on Wednesday last. I There were two other settlers living ;in the house with Mr Jackson Messrs ■ Buckley and Lomond. All the men j went to their respective duties in the i morning, to return and find everything I burned. Mr I Jackson had the most complete set of ; pictures of any photographer, of King | Country views. It was very fortunate i for Mr Jackson that he had not his | camera at home, the camera being a j very valuable one.
