NEW ZEALAND BISLEY.

THE NEW SCORING. [BY TELF.GRArrr.—I'KKSS AS.SOC7ATIOX.] Trentham, Last Night. The new style of scoring centrals by utilising the centre only of the bullseye, for more expeditiously deciding ties, met considerable criticism on the range to-day, but, generally, it was favouabe to the system. Great keenness was shown in the matter of centrals, and a large number were scored. At the range the best scores made in the opening squad was 34 by e:;-cbampion Duncan. The light was rather trying. In the matter of elevation and the wind and weather were variable. No possibles have so far been scored. The range was not finished before dinner. Wellington, This Day. The tenth annual meeting commenced at Trentham yesterday. The weather was threatening all day. A record number of entries was received, the total being 8 short of 600. The opening match was won by Rifleman Stewart, of Weber; and the Wellington Match by Lance-Corpl. J. Hunt, of Wellington, who scored the highest possible. The first stage of the Auckland Match of 500 and 600 yards, started at 8 a.m. in a baffling wind and a dull sky. .The shooting was good. Hay of Karori, Whiteman of Hutt, and Jones of Peilding, made possibles; Shanks of Gore, made 49, and there were numerous 48's.
