Sheep were rather dull of sale, but all cattle sold well under good condition. Fat cows made £4 19s to £6, fat heifers £5 4s to £5 15s, forward 3 year steers £6 6s to £7 Is, 18 month steers £3 9s to £3 10s, 15 month do. £2 17s to £3 2s, IS months heifers, empty Shorthorn £3 12s to £4, do. Jersey cross, been with bull £4 12s 6d to £5, 2 year Jersey do. £7, calves, weaners 30s to 375, springing heifers £5 12s (3d to £7, dairy cows £6 10s to £8 2s 6d, fat wethers 17s, ewes 14s 7d. lambs 12s 6d, weaner pigs 7s to 9s, porkers 30s to 37a, sows and litter £3 15s. At NgariTawahia on Friday we yarded 517 head.of cattle which were all required by buyers present and realised most satisfactory prices. Fat cows made £5 53 to £6 3s 6d, cows in fresh condition £3 15s to £3 18s, forward do. £4 10s to £4 16s, 18 months steers £3 14s to £3 17s, 15 | months do. £2 19s to £3 fis, year- j ling do. £2 lis 6d, 2 year empty j heifers £4 9s to £5 10s, 18 months | do. £3 10s to £3 12s 66, calves 30s to \ 395, small do. 20s to 255, weaner pigs : 10s. i
At Mr B. F. Crane's clearing sale at Pirongia, dairy cows in milk made £6 5s to £8 12s 6d, implements and furniture at usual rates.
The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Ohaupo, on December 13th, we had a yarding of 1032 head of well bred cattle, amongst them 192 very choice 3 to 3J year forward conditioned bullocks. Competition was keen for all classes, and a clearance was made at prices fully up to those ruling lately. Forward to fat steers made £6 16s to £8 2s 6d, choice 2 and 2£ year steers £4 10s to £5 ss, 18 months steers £3 15s to £4, 2 year heifers £4 2s, 15 to 18 months heifers £3 6s to £3 16s, yearling steers to £3 6s, mixed yearilngs £2 15s to £3, fat cows £5 to £6 ss, dairy cows forward in calf or in milk £6 to £lO 10s, bulls £3 to £6, wearier calves 24s 6d to 335. At Te Kuiti yards, on December 14tb, the yarding comprised 2700 sheep and 760 head of cattle. Buyers ware numerous, and all stock realised fully up to high values lately offering. Fresh 3 to 3£ year steers £5 15s to £7, 2 to 2\ year steers £4 10s to £5 Is, 18 month steers £3 12s 6d to £4, 12 to 15 month steers £3 3s to £3 lis, 15 to 18 month heifers £3 10s to £3 15s, yearling heifers £3 to £3 Gs, store cows £3 12s 6d to £4, bulls £4 to £6. The advertised 2 tooth ewes made 16s 6d to 17s, fresh conditioned ewes, in wool 12s 3d, aged ewes, shorn with lambs 7s 9d and Bs, all counted. On Thursday, 15th December, we held a successful clearing sale near Otorohanga, on behalf of Mr J. G. Ranby, whose 27 dairy cows in milk averaged £9 15s. Two year heifers to come in next season made £6 17s 6d, yearling heifers £4 10s, heifer calves, weaners by Jersey bull 2£gns, medium draught horses £26 to £3O 10s, buggy mare £25, light draught 1 and 2 year horses £9 to £l2 10s, sulky £l3 15s, spring dray £l2, drill £l4, roller £l3, other implements, tools and furniture at usual rates.
At Waihou, on Friday, the entry totalled 653 cattle, 532 sheep, and 121 pigs. Good prices were obtained throughout. Fat lambs lis to 13s 3d, fat ewes 12s to 14s Bd, fat wethers 16s 3d, weaner pigs lis to 16s, slips 18s to 31s, fat steers £7 15s to £9 7s, fat cows and heifers £5 to £6 12s 6d, 2 to '2J year steers £4 12s to £4 17s. 18 morrths to 2 year steers £4 Is,cows with calves £4 4s, bulls £3 5s to £6, dairy cows £5 15s to £7 10s, yearling steers £2 19s to £3 ss, yearling heifers £3 to £3 ss, 150 weaner calves, really good 28s 6d to 425, store cows £3 5s to £3 15s.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Hamilton, have received the following cable from their London office under Thursday's date: "Lamb—Finest Australian Jd higher, secondary Jd higher, but decline is likely, in view of the quantity afloat being so large. Early arrivals of New Zealand lamb should realise high prices, owing to absence of stocks. Mutton--Holders are firm, stocks light, very little demand. Beef Conditions are unchanged. New Zealand prime crossbred, Canterbury lamb, light sgd, New Zealand prime ox beef, hinds and fores equal 3 5-16 d. Shipment December. Tallow —Market steady, but inactive. All sorts par to 3d higher since our last wire.
