TOWN BAND FOR TE KUITI.
—♦ — A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Town Band for Te Kuiti was held on Thursday evening in the "Chronicle" office, Mr David •J. Young in the chair. The chairman briefly outlined the objects of the meeting and Mr Larritt followed, by pointing out the advantages such an organisation would be to the town, in . providing music for the public. He moved "that the Mayor be asked to convene a pubiic meeting, with the object of forming a Town Band." Mr Erikson seconded. —Carried. Some discussion arose on the cost of forming a band, and Mr Larritt said £l3O would provide a set of instruments. These could be bought on the instalment system, secured by a joint and several guarantee, with trustees. Messrs Larritt and Fletcher moved that Messrs Erikson and Young wait on the Mayor to ask him to convene a public meeting.■— Carried. All intending bandsmen are invited megmvhile to communicate with Mr D. J. Young with a view the formation of a band.
