The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., report:— At Matamata on September 28th, we held our usual sale and report a good market. Fat and forward wethers 20s to 23s 6d, fat hoggets, good 14s 6d to 16s, fat steers £7 ITs 6d to £8 17s 6, fat cows £5 10s to £7 ss, forward steers to £7 Is, forward cows £4 7s 6d to £4 14s, empty 2 year heifers £3 5s to £3 14s, yearling heifena £2 5s to £3. for an extra choice pen from Mr McCaw 3 year steers £5 12s 6d, 14 and 2 year steers £3 12s to £3 19s, store cows £3 to £3 19s, mixed yearlings £2 3s.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., report: — At Ohaupo on September 27th, we yarded 735 head of cattle and 800 sheep. Grown steers made from £6 5s to £7, 21 to 3 year steers £4 17s to £5, 18 month to 2 year steers £3 17s to £4 4s, yearling steers £2 16s to £3 3s, mixed yearlings £2 6s to £2 10s, 2 year empty heifers, £3 12s 6d to £4 2s, empty cows in fresh condition £3 7s 6d to £3 19s, best springing heifers £7 15s to £8 7s 6d, others £6 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d, backward do. £4 to £4 10s, dairy cows close to profit £8 to £9 ss, others £5 12s 6d to £6 15s, aged and backward do. £3 5s to £4. Ewe hoggets 17s 6d, wether hoggets 12s 3d to 14s 9d, mixed 14s 6d to 16s sd, fat hoggets 18s to 19s, empty stores ewes 13s 3d, ewes and lambs 17s 6d. Pigs, slips 14s to 15s.

At Pirongia on September 28th, more than the advertised number of cattle came forward, all selling at splendid prices. Fifteen months steers made £3 9s to £3 lis, 2 year heifers £3 lis to £3 19s, yearling steers £2 18s, mixed yearlings, small £2 to £2 2s 6d, fat cows £5 10s, do. in fresh condition £3 7s to £3 19s, dairy cows £5 17s 6d to £6 10s, springing heifers £5 5s to £6 7s 6d, weaner pigs 6s to lis, 100 ewes and lambs failed to reach the reserve.

At the clearing sale held on account of Mr W. T. Wallace, of Pukerimu, on September 29th, there was a large attendance and good competition. Ewes and lambs sold in lots made 17s to 21s 9d, 2 dairy cows £lO and £l2 10s, 2 draught geldings £6O, yearling filly by Young Salisbury £ll, light horses £5 5s to £lO, buggy £26, waggon £2l 10s, implements and furniture at usual prices.

At Cambridge on Friday last we yarded 762 head of cattle, including 118 beef for which there was keen competition and all sold at the hammer at the following prices:—Fat steers £9 to £lO 10s, one extra heavy £l3 ss, fat cows, heavy £7 12s 6d to £8 lis, fat cows, good £6 5s to £7, others £5 2s 6d to £5 10s, 3 year steers in forward condition £7 2s 6d to £7 15s, 2 to 3 year steers £5 ss, 18 month to 2 year steers £3 16s to £4, yearling steers £2 14s 6d to £3, mixed yearlings £2 7s to £2 12s 6d, calves, this season's 23s to 38s, empty cows, in fresh conidtion £3 12s to £4 7s, store cows £2 17s 6d to £3 ss, yearling Jersey heifers £3 2s 6d to £3 10s, Shorthorn heifers £2 15s, 2 year empty heifers £3 10s to £4 7s, best springing heifer* £7 17s 6d to £8 15s, others £6 5s to £7, backward heifers £4 2s 6d to £5 ss. dairy cows £7 5s to £9 if <*lose to profit, medium cows £5 10s to £6 10s, aged do. £3 2s 6d to £4 ss. Pigs, porkers 23s 6d, good slips 15s 6d to 18s 6d, weaners 8s to 13s 6d, purebred boars, three months old 30s to 425, sows, same age 22s 6d.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Auckland, report having held their usual weekly sale of fat stock at Westfield on Wednesday, September 28th as under:—Beef—An average yarding. Choice ox sold at 27s to 29s per hundred pounds, medium and plain ox 24s to 265, cow and heifer beef at 23s to 26s per 100 pounds. Veal—A full yarding. Heavy sold up to £2 ss, small good quality 18s to 355, others 4s to 12s. Mutton—A moderate yarding. Prices were slightly easier than the previous week. Choice heavy wethers sold at 28s tp 325, moderate quality and medium weights 23s to 275, higher and inferior 19s to 21s. Lamb.—Heavy fat hoggets sold at up to 20s 6d, others 13s 6d to 17s. Owing to the large entry of spring lamb these fell 4s to 5s per head. Best heavy sold at up to 18s, good 12s to 15s, small 6s to 9s. Piga.—A moderate yarding. Prices were slightly easier. Choice porkers made equal to 4d per lb, heavy at 3d, stores 12s to 16s each.
