On Saturday next Mr J. R. Graham will conduct an unreserved auction sale of bankrupt stock in the premises Rora street, next Rosenberg's, commencing at 2 o'clock. The goods to be sold are of an exceptionally highclass order being the entire stock of Watkinson, White and Co., Auckland, and have been purchased at the remarkably low figure of 5s in the £. The stock comprises drapery, clothing, fancy goods, jewellery, clocks, silverback mirrors and brushes, E.P.-ware, tea and coffee services, biscuit barrels, cruets, cutlery, fish and fruit sets, field and opera glasses, silver-mounted hand-bags and wallets, musical instruments, and other numerous lines particulars of which are advertised in our auction columns. The goods are now on view and the public are cordially invited to inspect same.
Our Auckland representative informs us that Messrs Laidlaw, Leeds and Co., general merchants and warehousemen who control the largest mail order business in the Dominion, have been compelled through the rapid increase in trade to remove to larger and more up-to-date premises. A long lease has been arranged of a newlyerected block in Fort street, commanding a prominent position and towering above other buildings in the vicinity. An idea of the storage capacity of the new warehouse can be gained from the fact that it contains 170,000 cubic feet, divided into four stories and basement, and specially arranged for the packing and quick despatch of the largest mail orders. As a result of their zealous efforts to meet the requirements of the country settler, Messrs Laidlaw, Leeds and Co. are now looked upon as the Montgomery, Ward and Co., of New Zealand.
