TE KUITI STATION.
To Remain Where It la. STOCKYARDS TO BE MOVED. V UNSATISFACTORY DECISIONS. The secretary of Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce has received the following letter from the Minister of Railways : "Sir, —With reference to your letter of 13th September, in regard to the re-arrangement of the Te Kuiti station, I have the honour to inform you that the promise that was given was that the work would be put in hand as soon as other more urgent works were completed. On looking further into the matter, however, I find that the complete re-arrangement of the station will cost a very considerable suin which the circumstances do not warrant at the present time. Arrangements are, however, being made to provide additional siding accommodation and to shift the cattleyards further south (as shown on the attached plan) and access to the yards will be obtainable by the level crossing at the south end of the station so that there will be no necessity for cattle to be driven along Rora street. In regard to the proposal to shift the station building, I may say that this is not absolutely necessary and cannot .be carried out for some years yet and it is problematical whether the development of the township on the west side of the line will not render it necessary ultimately to retain the station building on the present side of the line.—J. A. MILLAR, Minister of Railways."
