WAIKATO MUSICAL & ELOCUTIONARY SOCIETY.

The second annual competitions is connection with the Waikato Musical and Elocutionary Society will be held in the Hamilton Town Hall from May 16th to 20th. The success which attended the festival of last year justifies the Society in anticipating a still larger number of entries this year, and no expense or effort is being spared. Messrs H. Barry Coney and J. F. Montague have been secured as judges for music and-elocution respectively. Over forty classes have been scheduled including test anthem (Ist prize £4O), vocal solos, duets and quartettes, children's choruses, pianoforte, stringed and brass instruments, recitations, Shakespearean dialogues, essays, etc. Medals and diplomas are being awarded in all classes. For the convenience of visiting competitors, arrangements are being made for them to be takei) on motor car trips in the district as guests of the entertainment committee. Schedules, entry form 3 and full information may be obtained from the secretary, Mr Fred C. Daniell, "Times' " building, Hamilton, or the "Chronicle" office. Entries close on Monday, April 25th, at !> p.m.
