London, February 5,

The wool catalogued totalled 178,282 bales, of which 80,000 were sold for the Home trade, 81,000 for the Continent, and 14,000 for America. Five hundred bales were held over.

The average price for greasy merino fully maintained the December rates. Fine sorts advanced 5 per cent., and all scoureds advanced 5. per cent. The finer crossbreds barely maintained their price, but the coarser advanced 5 to 10 per cent. Top-making sorts showed the greatest rise. Slipes.advanced 5 to 10 per cent. Merino lambs' advanced 5 per cent. The Te Puri clip brought up to and averaged 10Jd.
