KAWHIA ROAD VOTES.

At the meeting of the Kawhia County Council last week, the question of undertaking the expenditure of Government grants was the principal topic for discussion.

It was resolved that the attention of the Member for the district be drawn to the meagre amounts available for expenditure in a county of that area as shown in the schedule supplied to the Council.

The Chairman commented strongly on the action of the Government in the matter.

It was unanimously resolved "That, in view of the proposal of the Government arriving too late in the season to allow of the work being put in hand before the winter, the Council suggests that the Public Works Department proceed with the work as soon as possible."
