CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor,
Sir, —I wish to call public attention to the manner in which the Road Department has treated two married men at Marokopa. These men have been knocked off the roads, and single men given employment. These -are the facts of the case: Two married men and families came and settled at Marokopa about six weeks prior to Christmas. They were started on the Waipawa road, and proved themselves workmen by the quantity of work they got through in the short time they were employed. They were knocked off for the holidays and have not been started again, though making repeated application for work. Single men have been started on this and .other roads since the holidays while these married men have been left idle to get into debt. I do not know why they have not been put on, but I do know this, that they are good workmen. Kindly publish the above and get justice done. —I am, etc , JOHN WOULDES. Kiritehere, February 4, 1910.
