TE KUITI DAIRYING.
A meeting of those interested in the above matter was held in the "Chronicle" Office last evening. Mr Boddie, convener of the meeting, occupied the chair. The chairman stated that the desirableness of starting dairying in Te Kuiti and surrounding districts must be patent to all. Ho was satisfied that in the near future the industry would be a very strong one iocally, and to get the business on a sound footting, the settlers must pull together and each one guarantee as many cows as he felt he safely could. General discussion followed. A rough estimate was made of the possible number of cows available, should a factory be started next year. At a low estimate the number was put down at between four and five hundred cows to start with.
The following promised to canvas thcii- various districts in order to obtain aa accurately as possible the exact number of cows obtainable should it be decided to go on with the scheme next season: —Waiteti road, Mesrsa Scott and Gillanders; Taranaki road. Mr Stanton; Matigaorino road and Te Kumi, Mr Boddie. It was decided that the list be ready and brought before the meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 26th, in Hattaway's Hall.
