OBITUARY.

The many friends of Mr 11. M. Bankart, of Te Mata, will regret to learn that Mr Bankart died at Auckland on Sunday last after a short illness. On Thursday last the deceased gentleman was operated on for appendicitis, and appeared to be doing well until Sunday when a change for the worse set in and death took place in the evening. Mr Bankart resided for many years at Te Mata, and occupied a seat on the Raglan County Council. He was a man of exceptional ability and took a keen interest in public matters. Publicly and privately he was noted for his geniality and kind-heartedness, and his death will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends.

The funeral took place at Auckland on Monday afternoon.
