— 1 A representative meeting was held in Mr Hattaw ay's sample rooms on '1 hursday December 16th. The recommendations from previous meeting- were j accepted and a programme of ever.:; I arranged that should prove a worthy | successor to last year's meeting. The 1 Secretary was instructed to make apj plication for affiliation with the Axe- : | men's Association. j A feature of this year's programme | j will be an event for the local fire bri- ■ gade, and it is hoped the members will take advantage of the assistance from I i the Sports Club, and make this item j their particular interest. It is intended to make the sports ! meeting an annual event, and every j effort will be made to secure the sane- : tion of the Axemen's Association to ; have one of the championships of New j Zealand decided at Te Kuiti. in 1911. Messrs Chilcott and Albrechtsen have kindly donated a cup as a points prize, and Messrs Hitchcock and N. C. Matthew have also donated trophies for the boys' race. The assistance of the townspeople to make the sports a success will be appreciated by the Committee. The next meeting of the committee will be held in the "Chronicle'' ePHcc on Thursday evening, January 6th, 1010.
