TE KUMI RACES.
j The above races were held at Te Kumi i lon Thursday last. The weather was j threatening but the rain held off. j j There was a fair attendance and the j races were carried through without J any acidents. A somewhat warm dispute took place over the judge's decision in the Hack Race, many deeming that the decision was wrong and that the second horse should have been i placed first. However, in such cases, J the judge's decision is, or should i>e, j final. The following are the placed horses in the various events: — Handicap Hurdles. —Porangi 1, Bonnie Roy 2. Five starters. Maiden Plate. —Ma Jack 1, Try ! Fluke 2. Three starters. ! Pony Race. —Toi, 1 Show-Show 2. i Four starters. j Te Kumi Cup.—Titabi 1, Kaihau 2. Five Starters. This was a well con- ; tested race. From the start the pace was a cracker, but Titahi's jockey showed good judgment by nursing his mount for tbe first two laps and came ; comfortably away from the rest of the I field in tbe final lap and passed the j post an easy winner. j Hack Race. —Try Fluke, 1 Puke- I tutu 2. Five starters. 1 Flying Handicap.—Korari 1. Porangi 2. Seven starters. I
