MAROKOPA.
. „ *. — Own Correspondent. The weather lately has been very favourable to the growth of grass, rather too much so to the mind of those who. tempted by the high price of cattle have left their places understocked.
I understand that Mr T. B. Scott is agent for the Farmers' Auctioneering Company, is arranging to hold a sheep sale in Marokcpa on a date to be named probably in February. This is a step in the right direction and although it may be somewhat premature in this district at the present time, there is no doubt that regular auction sales of stock wit) be held here or in this vicinity before very long. The s.s. Rothesay made her first trip up the river this week, when a foil load of wool was shipped from Vieary and Son's landing. The little steamer was accompanied on her trip by the Northern Company's Kawbia agent, Mr A. E. Langley. who was much pleased with the trip op the river. It is to be hoped that now this boat has made a start to come op the river that she will continue doing so. as at present moat of the outgoing cargo has to be punted down to the hads which means double handling and a consqeuent loss of time. There arc a large number of sheep to be shorn at this shed sufficient to keep the boat running with full toads for four or five trips. The forthcoming meeting arranged by the focal sports club promise* to attract a large attendance of the pubIk. Already intending visitors are booking rooms for the holidays.
