An innovation or rather an old j friend in a rev.- face was referred to j by Sir Josevb Ward in the Budget ! Sjiecch. He said he was convincc-d money received in re Moor", of Kai rvi, wiih his groat Hereford blood, has been invincible :n the fat cattle pens at PalT-ersf'-. an-". ■ other shows in the Souther;: aisiri-:-:; . of the island. He has the stcck, but the country on which they graze—declared to be some of the fines', xutv.r.ing land in the North Island —is credi ted with much of thf? Kai Iwi b"ee::er's success. It will be remembered that the champion fat Hereford bull of last j year was taken by .Mr Moore to the i Sydney Royal, where it created a sen- j sation and was declared an easy chair.- 1 pion. It weighed a shade over a ton; but a Cambrigde fattener brought a bullock —a grade Shorthorn —to Palmerston this jear which weighed no less than a ton and a quarter. There were five competitors against the Cambridge man, E. Allen, including Moore and the Gear Meat Company, but he was an easy first. It was a great victory for the Waikato. More than this, however, other Waikato graziers Goodwin Bros., old Banks Peninsula farmers, who have a fine farm near Hamilton, defeated the Moore Hereford in the fat cow class with splendidly fatted grade shorthorns. Mr J. F. Thomson begs to notify the public of Te Kuiti and surrounding districts that he has taken over the Arcadia refreshment rooms. By catering for the wants of the public and by strict attention to all orders entrusted to him Mr Thomson hopes to receive fair share of patronage. The funeral of the late R Hunt took place at or ir:o:y last at Te Kuiti, Many friends airb - ed by train from Waikato to : y last respects to a man who was red:: the highest esteem, while residents of TeKuiti town and district assentbic large numbers. The service vas conducted at the grave by the Rev. G. H. Morse, the funeral arrange-nter.ts being carried out by Messrs liiuci.-ir.:.-: and Cobb.
