♦ Resident Correspondent. Accidents. The Rev. Mr Woollas* met with a nasty accident on Siturdny week, the result of a horse kick, which has confined him to bis bed for some days, but we are pleaded to learn that he is progressing favourably. The hunting season is over but a runnaway pair of horses atta-hed to a four wheeler belonging to Dr Henderson, pave th-r sportively inclined an exciting chase on Sunday. After a fast and merry of about three miles the naughty geegees came to grief while attempting to negotiate a wire fence "a la Blondin" with disastrous results to the vehicle, the followers of the chase arriving in time to gather up the pieces. Another equine of an inquisitive nature belonging to Mr Edwards, encouraged by the feats accomplished by the eo/iines of O'Neill's Buck jumpers, who were preforming in the town, essayed to jump down a3O foot well witn disastrous results to the borse. After strenuous efforts on the part of a great many willing helpers the borse was extricated "from its unhappy predicament apparently little the worse. Masonic Ball The annual installation Ball was held on Friday evening. It proved to be at most brilliant function. A number of visiting masons were present from Hamilton, Tc Kutii and Auckj land. The Town Hall bore a gay apI f*>aranee with its decorations of palms, i (lags, etc. I Sporting. The Pirongia Racing Club is increasing the stakes considerably for their Boxing Day meet.
