PERRY'S BIORAMA COMPANY.
The above company, together with the Salvation Army Silver Band and choral party, made their appearance in Te Kuiti on Tuesday evening last, and were greeted by a crowded house. The selections by the band were of a high cla« order, and were much appreciated by the music-loving audience. The solos rendered by members of the company were extremely good; as also the ducts, quartettes, etc. The song: "The Mighty Deep," deserve-* special mention for its expressive rendering, and caused much applause from the audience. The pictures were all clear and large, an electrical plant being employed to produce the light, which is a great advantage over the j unreliable gas generators. We were pleased to see that the company introduced many humorous films which unlike the usual run of pictures produced here, were utterly devoid ot any vulgarity whatever. It is always a noticeable feature of these picture entertainments that wherever humour is introduced, vulgarity in some form is also conspicuous. With Perry's Biorama, however, there is an exception, and we should be glad to see other companies follow in this direction, as it is not in the interests of the education of the rising generation, who are so liable to misconstrue vulgar with genuine humour, that pictures of a degrading nature should be screened. The illustrated songs were well received and the choruses heartily joined in, and an enjoyable evening spent. The company proceeded south by the express on Wednesday.
