OTOROHANGA SALEYARDS
With regard to the request of the Otorohanga residents for the removal of the cattle yards at the railway station, Mr Jennings, member for the district, has received the following letter from the Minister for railways:— "Sir, —With reference to your representations in support of the request made by the deputation that waited upon the Acting-Premier recently urging the removal of the cattle yards at Otorohanga, I have the honour to inform you that it is recognised that the cattle yards at Otorohanga are not in the most suitable position but it is probable that at no very distant date a complete re-arrangement of the station accommodation will be necessary and as the removal of the cattle yards at the present time would involve considerable expenditure through the necessity for the provision of an additional siding I regret that I cannot see my way to authorise any expenditure in the direction desired, but your representations will be borne ni mind when a more favourable opportunity occurs."
