HANGATIKI SPORTS.

The Natives at Hangatiki intend devoting considerable attention to sports in the near future, and are holding the first of a series of meetings at the end of the present month The first meeting is to take the form of a two day's carnival, August 30th and 31st being fixed as the dates The programme is highly varied and comprises foot racing, wood chopping, field events, tug-o-war, and various other contests of strength and skill. Posters containing a full list of events and prizes will be issued within the next few day*. It is intended to have a sportu gathering every three months and the next meeting, which will be devoted to horse racing, will be held nt the end of November or the beginning of December
