PUKETUTU.

(Own Correspondent.) I A very pleasant social evening was ; spent at Puketutu on Friday evening : last, the occasion being the departure of Mr and Mrs Harrop on a holiday trip. All the residents and members of the railway staff stationed at Puketutu, assembled at the residence of Mrs Harvey, and several Te Kuiti residents wi;r«- -.'-to pre<cnt. During the evening lh.- following items were rendered: Violin and piano duct, "Life's ; Dream is O'er " Mr and Mrs Harvey; j song, "In old Madrid," Mr E. Carter; i sonxp, "The old Swanr.ee," Mrs S. Mellcr; recitation, "Only a Pack of Cards," Mr Morgan; song, "Star of Bethlehem," Mrs Harrop; song, "Where the Bluebirds sing," Mr B. Wilson; duet, "Larboard Watch," Messrs Harvey and Harrop; song, "Look Back," Mr McGinn; piano solo, "The Fire Alarm," Mr E. Carter; song, "The Wreck," T. Harrop; trio, "Unita," Mesdames Harrop, Sharp and Mellor; song, "Sweetest Story ever told," A. Harvey. The residence in course of erection for Mr Moorhouse is now approaching completion. This is on* of the pioneer residences of the district, and the completion of the work is to be celebrated by the proprietor, who intends giving a house warming in the good old fashioned style.
