TE KUITI ROADS.
Meeting of Ratepayers.
A meeting of ratepayers on the Eastern side of the river at Te Kuiti was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr Boddie presiding. The question of roads was the chief item discussed and those present manifested keen interest in the subject. After a general discussion it was decided to request the County Council to proceed immediately with the expending of the loan money now available for the Mangaorino road. The question of having the whole of the roads on the Eastern side of the river improved and metalled was fully discussed, and it was decided to prepare a scheme for the purpose of submitting to the County Council. The new road through the recently subdivided porperty of Messrs Green and Colebrook is to be formed through the properties of Messrs Jordan and Boddie according to the arrangement made some time ago between the settlers and the Council, and the question of metalling the road was favorably considered. Eventually it was resolved to formulate a wider scheme with the object of properly forming and metalling the whole of the roads on Messrs Green and Colebrook's property. To this end it will be necessary to have a special rating area defined and a special loan raised.
The opinion expressed at the meeting was that as the main road is to be put through in any case the best course to adopt is to embrace the whole of the roads in one scheme and have the work completed throughout.
