Thursday, August 12, 1909. Before Mr Loughnan, S.M. D. McDiarmid (Mr Hine) v. Charles Holland and Harry Hetet (Mr Finlay), were charged with allowing their horses to wander on the Awakinc Road. Legal argument having been heard the case was dismissed. The Magistrate stated that as poundage fees had been collected, under the circumstances he considered this sufficient penalty. C. O'Callaghan for leading two horses on the footpath in Queen Street was fined Is and costs. The case against Ready for driving on footpath was dismissed. C. Stevens (Mr Hine) v. Nicholson: Judgment for amount claimed with costs. Kerr (Finlay) v.Anderson : Adjourned until next Court day. Same v. Gardiner: Judgment for amount claimed and costs. Ryan v. Tarrant: Judgment for plaintiff with costs. John Morrow (Mr Finlay),was charged with assaulting H. Rodewald (Mr Sharpies), at Ongarue. Evidence having been taken His Worship stated that he could not dismiss the case, but would inflict a fine of Is, without costs. A young man was charged with bringing liquor into Te Kuiti for sale and also not labelled. The case was adjourned until next Court day, other witnesses to be brought forward by that time. Cantlon (Mr Sharpies) v. Albrechtsen (Mr Finlay) : Claim for £ls for cow slaughtered by defendant and damages; judgment was given for £8 for the cow and £4 can.ages.
