A very heavy list was again set down for hearing before MrLcughr.an at the weekly sittings of the? Court on Tuesday and Wednesday, but through taking longer than was anticipated,, not more than half were heard. Eiward Gardiner, charged with having allowed his billiard room to be used as a common gaminghouse, was fined £3, and a conviction recorded. R. Driscoll, William Stewart, G, Jones, Henry Gratton, and William Pendock for being found playing an illegal game of chance, to wit. marble 100, on the premises of E. Gardiner, were each fined 10s and 7s costs. Emerald Davis, for rerr.cwing the hat of another person on a railway train was fined 5s and costs. Alexander Campbell was called upon to give reason why he- shcuid r.ot contribute towards the support of his child, now in the industrial school. Defendant was ordered to pay l.s per week towards the child's support, A man named Purcell, who did netappear, was called upon to answer the charge of having assaulted W. Woods, of Waitangi, a boarding-housekeeper.
