DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS
Various matters affecting the district ' were brought before the Ministers by I Mr Jennings. M.P., during the past week. f In reference to the delay in theerecji tion of the bridge over the Ongarue I river, the Hon. A. W. Hogg said it ! was owing to the difference of opinion j ! as to what sort of bridge would be suit- ■ able, but he hoped to settle the matter when in Wellington this week. The matter of enlarging the school • at Manunui was submitted by the j member to the Secretary of the Auek- j land Hoard of Education, the incon- : venience caused by delaying the en- j largrmcnts being pointed out. The : matter will He considered at next j meeting of the Board. In connection with the petition from the Ohura settlers asking that the river j should be snagged from Matiere to l'okirima. the Minister for Lands replied that Messrs Tolmc and Bullard agree that the snagging would be expensive, and would give no appreciative result | because the Ohura fails would prevent any launch getting ritrht through to the Wanganui river.
