Notes.

For the winners Ron Rata at full back was not greatly taxed in defence. The work that came his way was neatly done, and he was never in trouble. Occasionally be took a hand in attack, and scored a try from a passing run in the second spell. This player is fulfiling his promise of last year and is capable of playing a good game in the three quarter line. His scoring ability is test to his team at full back. Q{ the three quarters J. Hctet payed a good game and made some excellent openings. Grey and Hikaka were safe but each has the fault of hanging to the ball too long. Tuhckn and Turci played creditable games, and the latter is a decided acquisition to the team. The forwards played fairly welt together, and with further practice should prove a useful combination. Searancke and Julian were frequently noticeable while the remainder worked hard.

The Oparure team was overmatched, but pla>cd op pluckily. The full backwas often pressed, and extricated his »ide from many difficulties. With a decent opportunity he is the making pf a very sound player. The remainder of the backs were responsible for good individual work, but lacked the necessary combination to take advantage of openings. Tiny, the centre three quarter. did some excellent line kicking. The forwards possess weight ami arc wiilmg, but should pack their sreums more solidly. With practice and coaching the team should do much better in coming matches.
