Nehinehinui v. Oparure.

The visiting team, winning the t<»?, dieted to defend the Western goal in the first spell. Play for a time was of an even nature, the ball being kept mostly among the forwards. An occasional ran was attempted by the Nchinehintii back?, but the fault of hanging to he ball was largely indulged, and this .combined with good tackling by the Oparure men. rendered attempts at scoring futile. About half way through the spell Grey Pootawerc following up fast in a loose rush, scored for Nebinebinui, J. Held, placing a neat goal. From this out the local team opened up the play much better, and the backs flung the ball about to some purpose. From a good passing run in which most of the backs took a hand Jtikaka scored a Tcond try for the local Uam. J. Hetet's attempt at goal was fruitless, and the spell ended shortly afterwards with the score Nehinehinui S. Oparure nil. The second spell was practically a repetition of the first, except that the local men kept the play open from the start. The third try was scored by Gemming, who being unmarked on a line out, took the ball and beating the Oparure full back scored near the cor- j ner. Further tries were scored from i passing runs by J. Hctet, Rou Rata, j and Hikaka, none of them being J converted, and the game ended in favour of Nehinchinui by 20 points ot nil.

Mr Moorhouse reforced and controlled the game in a highly efficient manner. He is to be complimented on taking a firm stand in dealing with a nonplayrr who was inclined to cause trouble.
